I finally got around to removing the pant hanger from the wall. It
was mostly broken when I bought the house, so I only used it to hang
belts. But the tangs had sagged so much that it wasn't great for
that purpose. But I need a place to hang belts, so I scavenged the
11 remaining tines from the pant hanger to make a belt hanger. I
cut the tines to about 4". I cut and routed a 1" thick
piece of 3.5" wide oak, then drilled holes for the tines. The
tines will be angled upward slightly. I drilled the holes on the
drill press with a 5/8" Forstner bit since the tines are
5/8" dowels. I also drilled countersunk holes to mount it
using toggle bolts. The sanding and initial finishing of the oak
piece is done and I glued the tines in place. It'll need some
polyurethane after the glue dries.
I'm probably going to make some similar pieces to hang some of
my baseball caps. Mostly to utilize the small bit of space
still available in the closet, above where the new belt rack will
be bounted.

I'm now patching the remainder of the oversized hole for the electrical
box that houses the cable and satellite coax in the master bedroom. To
me it looks as if the hole for this box was created with a claw hammer.
It's a mess but I'll get it fixed up.

I continued patching the oversized hole for the electrical box that houses
the cable and satellite coax in the master bedroom.

I finished installing the two cat6a runs to the master bedroom and tested
the runs for basic connectivity. They're both working.
I also started repairing the oversized hole for the electrical box
that houses the cable TV and satellite cables. I started with joint
compound just to get a good hard base to cling to the gypsum.

I installed a Lutron timer switch for the master bedroom closet light.
I've left this light on all day on more than one occasion. I'm never in
the closet for more than a few minutes, so it made sense to install a
timer switch. It's currently set for 5 minutes.

I installed a 24" square, 4250 lumen, 4000K LED light panel in
the master bedroom closet. It's SO much better than the original light
fixture. I can now tell the difference between navy and black slacks
in my closet. It's brighter than the original 2-bulb fixture, and
since it's so colse to the ceiling, it does a better job of lighting the
top shelves.

Knowing that some of my smoke detectors are ancient, I finally bought
two Nest Protect hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. I installed
the most important one, right outside of the master bedroom. The second will
be installed outside the third bedroom on the second floor. I will need
more: one for the 2nd upstairs bedroom (hardwired or battery?), one for the
first upstairs bedroom (hardwired), and one for the kitchen (battery). The
setup and installation of the first one went flawlessly once I updated the
Nest app on my iPhone. This Nest Protect is named protectmb on my local
network, and I updated DNS and DHCP configurations for it.
It's a bonus that it's a combined smoke and carbon monoxide detector.
As I install Nest Protect devices to replace my smoke alarms, I can remove
the ugly CO detectors from my walls and patch the holes.

My second attempt to rescreen one of the window screens in the master
bedroom was successful.

I installed two more of the Pass & Seymour GFCI outlets with nightlights
(1595NTLTRWCC4) in the master bedroom. I thought I might get away with
just one more, but I like having light all the way around the bed.

One of the Pass & Seymour GFCI outlets with nightlights (1595NTLTRWCC4)
that I bought today will go in the master bedroom. Technically I want
another one in here too to bring the total to four, but I'm buying these
slowly due to needing to spend money elsewhere.

I installed two Pass & Seymour GFCI outlets with nightlights
(1595NTLTRWCC4). One is next to the door to the hall, the other is next
to the door to the master bathroom. I will be installing more of these
in this bedroom so I have the option of disabling the occupancy-sensing
dimmer for the lights on the ceiling fan. I need at least two more to
cover the other side of the bedroom.

Of the six Pass & Seymour GFCI outlets with nightlights that I ordered
from Lowe's, two will go in the
master bedroom. I may add more here later, and I'm definitely going to
put some in the bedrooms on the second floor.

I bought some Zep carpet shampoo and some Febreze in a large refill
bottle from Home Depot, to try
to get rid of the pet smell in the bedroom.

I ordered some Behr paint samples from
Home Depot: Parchment Paper for the walls, Innocence for the trim and
Bavarian Cream for the doors.

I installed a Lutron Maestro MSCL-OP153M-WH occupancy sensing dimmer in
the master bedroom, along with a pair of companion dimmers. I'm not
sure I'm going to keep this setup indefinitely, especially since I don't
know if tossing and turning in the bed will set off the sensor.
Regardless, I will definitely keep the companion dimmers, and would only
replace the occupancy sensing dimmer. These dimmers are much nicer than
the contractor-grade switches they replaced.
It took me hours to complete this work due to an unlabelled or
color coded 4-way switch on the wall and trouble with the wall plate
and el-cheapo fan switch near the bed. It also doesn't help that the
original contractor used drywall screws to mount switches, ruining
the threads in the switch boxes for normal switch mounting screws.

I stopped at Home Depot on the way home to pick up another Lutron Maestro
companion dimmer for the master bedroom. Unfortunately, they don't have
them at the Auburn Hills location. I picked up another Cree BR30 2700K
LED bulb, to replace the one Philips bulb I have in the kitchen. The
Philips bulb will be moved to the basement stairwell, since the CFL there
now is VERY dim, especially in cooler temperatures.

I finally replaced the three very dim bulbs in the master bedroom
ceiling fan. They were 25W candelabras, and as the primary lighting in
the bedroom, they were nearly useless. I installed three 60W candelabra
bulbs, so now I have sufficient lighting in the master bedroom and can
actaully effectively use the dimmer. I replaced the glass dome, which
had been sitting in the closet since July.
