DME wiring for Sport Mode
Last Modified May 7, 2011
THIS PAGE NOT YET COMPLETE!!!
The Sport Mode Mini Module's
SO output needs to be connected to
pin 15 of the X60004 connector on the DME. To do this we need to
install a pin sleeve in the X60004 connector, and run the wire into the
cabin to the Sport Mode Mini Module.
NOTE: All of this work should be done with the car battery's ground
terminal disconnected!

Here's a picture of the DME connectors. These are under the DME
cover under the hood, on the passenger side near the firewall. X60005
needs to be released and removed before releasing and removing X60004.

A close-up of X60005 and X60004.
Once the X60004 connector shell is released and pulled from the DME,
release and remove the gray pin sleeve housing and insert a pin
sleeve into position 15.

Put the gray pin sleeve housing back in the lever-lock X60004 shell.
Reinstall connectors X60004 and X60005 in the DME.
We now need to get wire from the cabin to the DME compartment.
I chose the most direct route, the vent tube in the DME compartment
that leads to the passenger footwell. I also used 18 gauge wire, which
is overkill; 20 or 22 would work fine.
DO NOT STUFF THIS TUBE FULL OF WIRES!
This vent hose serves as the intake for the cooling system in the
DME compartment. Air is drawn from the cabin into the DME
compartment through this part of the hose, and exhausted into the
cabin via the other half of this hose by the 'E-BOX FAN' (M6506 in
the ETM). The 'E-BOX FAN' is located under the DME. See
7100.0-46-1 in the ETM.
Stuffing this tube full of wires may result in DME malfunctions or worse
(permanent damage to the DME). One 18 gauge or smaller wire should be
O.K., but do NOT route more wires through this tube.
